Bendbrook Goat Track Shiraz 2005
(92 POINTS) Macclesfield grown, 14.5% Alc
Review: The Advertiser
Reviewed by: Phillip White July 2006
"With as much plum, date and
fig aroma as a Christmas pudding, and enough spicy oak to
evoke the woodfire stove that cooked it, this hearty Hills
Shiraz seems all comport and luxury at first. You might
even wiff a dash of raspberry, cream and caster sugar on
the top. But contemplate the firm spine of mineral, acid
and tannin below these confections, and you realise the
wine also reflects the stony terroir in which it grew. These
more austere characters are nature’s preservatives,
stacked in there to guarantee the freshness of that fruit
for decades. As it matures these extremes will draw together
smoothly, enriching the harmonies of what is already a mighty
wine. 92 points now, more later."

Bendbrook Goat Track Shiraz 2004
- SOLD OUT
Review: Newwines 2005
Reviewed by: James Halliday, Kate McIntyre,
Chris Barnes, Ben Edwards
"Grown on a steeply sloping,
‘rock infested’ slope, hence the name ‘Goat
Track’. Strongly coloured, this medium to full-bodied
wine has rich, powerful, blackberry and bitter chocolate
fruit supported by quality, ripe tannins.
The use of oak has been well controlled,
as has the overall extract. Coupled with the screwcap, the
wine will live and improve for a decade or more. All in
all, well deserves its retail price."
